Tiffany blue SWEET 16

So back in December we had a SWEET 16th birthday party for my niece.
Now last year I made the sassy shades cake for this very same niece but this year was all about the Tiffany Blue. The fondant was easy but getting the icing colour for the cupcakes took some work. I believe I ended up using Wilton teal and a touch of sky blue to get the colour below.

Here is a few compilations of the treats I made for the party.

It was a good party and everyone loved the cake. The cupcakes were just to pretty to eat...but we did!

I'm back!

It's been QUITE some time since I've posted but I've been QUITE busy.

I've been baking here and there and the following are some of the creations I've made thus far.

Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
(for Christmas add crushed candy canes as a garnish)

Chai latte cupcakes with white chocolate frosting and a cinnamon garnish
and
French Vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting

(Top two are chai. Bottom left is French vanilla and bottom right is red velvet)

Christmas themed chocolate bark:
candy cane white chocolate and cookies and creme
and
Candy and chocolate coated pretzel rods
(salty and sweet)

I will be updating at least twice a month to start and hope you come by to see the new ideas I come up with or the new beautiful products I am using.

BAKING TIP #3

When baking, make sure to warm up the oven to the correct temperature.
Don't put your batter in while the oven is warming up as different temperatures can cause your pastries to be unevenly cooked.

Basketball Cupcakes

Late Posting but Happy Birthday Jamal. The Basketball Cupcakes came out well but were rushed nonetheless. I know you enjoyed them!

*Note: not all the cupcakes were basketballized!

How to make these:
You will need: Fondant, Tip #3 from Wilton, Buttercream Icing, Orange Gel Dye from Wilton, Black icing gel (or black licorice laces, depending on what you prefer).

Using the tip of Tip#3 will give you the rippled effect of the basketball. Adding the black icing gel or the licorice laces will give the basketball lines. Using a gumpaste tool, you can create the crevices to pipe in the black gel, OR you can improvise like I did and use something else.

Overall, this is an easy project.

Happy Baking,

Ashley

Various Pastries

So over the holidays we prepared some tasty treats but have been too busy to post them. I won't go into detail on them but below are a few of the ideas we did.

I thought this one looked like a Christmas tree.
Vanilla Bean on one side and Premium Swiss Chocolate on the other.

Candy Cane Hot chocolate and cupcakes. What's better than this!

Gignerbread

First off,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm sure everyone's Christmas and New Year was splendid! Over the holidays we've been baking! Some projects turning out better than others. Below features a gingerbread house that was done quite quickly but was just for the kiddies.

We started off by buying a pre-baked Gingerbread House kit by Wilton. Now you can make the gingerbread yourself and cut out the shapes but we took the easy way out (lol).

Includes: Pre-Baked pieces, spearmint leaves, 2 kinds of candy, royal icing mix.
Note: In this package, the windows and doors are not engraved into the gingerbread.
Pictured below is the result of our quickly done house. But as you can see, adding a bit of extra candy to create a walkway, and some coconut to look like snow spruces up our little gingerbread house.

Aside from Gingerbread, for the kiddies we also made some cellophane bags filled with candy! Who wouldn't want this! An idea such as this is a great gift idea. You can substitute candy for cookies or chocolate to name a few. When packaged beautifully and given as a gift, this idea will be surely appreciated.

Tomorrow, I'll be posting all the goodies we made this Christmas!

Happy Baking
