Diaper Party Gender Neutral Cupcakes

Well the title explains it all!

These were indeed made for a Diaper Party (this is the men equivalent to a woman's baby shower, just an fyi for anyone wondering what I am speaking about).

As the sex of the baby is going to be a surprise - a gender neutral colour was needed.
Yellow is definitely my favourite colour - a soft baby pastel colour was used here.

To achieve this yellow, I made 2 batches of buttercreme icing and added 4 drops of "Sunshine Yellow" by Artisan Accents.

Packed and Ready to be Shipped out. All I have to do is close the box and tie.

It was a cute arial view.

Regal Purple Cupcakes

This little girl asked her mom for "Gangsta Purple Cupcakes with Gold". She's 4. What does she know about gangsta purple? LOL

My inspiration came from "A pimp named slick back's suit" #Boondocks

I think I did a good job matching the colour as it is very hard to get a deep purple without using the whole entire jar AND without making the icing taste bitter. No one wants that!

Valentines Day Cupcakes!

The Valentines Day Cupcake Sale
(posting a bit late)

I got requests for the Champagne Cupcakes which are featured below.

Details:
-White Cupcake with Champagne imbedded into the batter (used egg whites instead of the full egg to get the full white cupcake effect)
-Buttercreme Icing with Champagne imbedded into the batter and turned pink to celebrate the day
-Toppers: one outline of a heart and the other solid heart, both made with Red Merkens Chocolate

Always start with a good liner. The type of liner will depend on the cupcake you're making and if you want the liner to be vivid and stand out. Since I only made a white cupcake, the liners kept their colour in order to show the valentines effect. [However, if I made a chocolate cupcake - it would be best to go with "Colour Cups Foil Liners". Those will not fade.]

Finished products:

Packed and ready to go!

Some for the Cupcakes, Some for me ! Lol.
Most supplies bought at Bulk Barn.
Cupcake Boxes bought at Creative Bag.

Little Mr. Man

This little man is growing up! He is turning the big ONE!
His mom decided to have two cakes (both blue with moustaches), cake pops, and cupcakes.
Happy Birthday Real Deal.

While making these cakes, I was asked to make another cake for a Christmas party - but red velvet. The white cake is cream cheese icing done with the same spatula technique over a red velvet cake.

Bridal Shower

"Two hearts, Yours and Mine..."

When you find that perfect someone and you say "I do", it calls for celebration. However, before the big day, there are a few other "All-about-the-bride" celebrations. In this case, we created special Bridal cupcakes for the Bride to Be.

Here is our Bride to Be's designated cupcake!
This is a Chocolate Cupcake with buttercreme icing and a chocolate "Mrs" topper.
To make this topper you will need:
-melting chocolate (i.e. Merkens, Candy Melts, etc)
-an icing bag fit with a tip (I used #5 Wilton)
-parchment paper

Step 1: Melt the chocolate in the microwave (start with 30 seconds, then in 15 second intervals - so not to have the chocolate burn- stirring each time) until it is at the correct consistency
Step 2: In your already prepared icing bag, scoop the chocolate into the bag
Step 3: Start to write your message or draw your design on your piece of parchment (Hint: If you want to keep all the letters together, you must write in cursive)
Step 4: Place it in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes
Step 5: BE CAREFUL when removing from the fridge. I had 2 fall off my parchment and break (good thing I made 4)
Step 6: Place on cupcake! And you're Done!

So what's a bride without her entourage, oops, I mean bridal party?  :)
You do need witnesses, at the very least to capture this beautiful moment in your amazing stunning beautiful expensive wedding dress! ... oh and I guess your soon to be husband as well and how handsome he looks ;)

Using the damask colour cups liners really allowed the liner to pop offering a bit of elegance.
(Hint: Using foil lined liners is crucial if you do not want your liner to blend into your cupcake - especially when making chocolate ones )

Bride to Bee

I was asked to make 50 cupcakes for.a bridal shower with the theme "bride to BEE", this is what I came up with. These cute little bumble bees took a while to make, but came out well and are ready for flight.

To make a bumble bee, you require the following tools.
-Yellow, Black, and White fondant
-Tip 3
-Edible Glue
-shaping tool
-knife or pizza cutter

Steps
1. Start by rolling the yellow fondant into an oval.
2. Use the front of tip 3 to cut out the bee's eyes.
3. Use the back of tip 3 to cut circles for the beeS wings, then combine them together by using a shaping tool.
4. Use a knife or pizza cutter to cute straight lines for the bee's body. Take a pieces of black fondant and shape with your fingers for the stinger.
5. Apply all pieces will edible glue

After I pre=made these bumblebees, I moved on to decorating my cupcakes. I used a 1A to shape my icing into a beehive.

Since I had to have these picked up, each cupcake got it's own container which I purchased at Creative bag (great store by the way).

Once I was done, I placed a bumble bee on top each hive.

I packed two sides of a corrugated box with newspaper to keep the containers from moving around. I then tied both boxes together with a strong bow for easy transport.

This is the completed version.

Hope these brought a smile to your day!

Key Lime Cupcakes

In the spirit of summer which is soon approaching (oh I cannot wait!) I have taken the first step in baking some cute summer related treats.

Key-lime cupcakes!

Very tasty treat and simple I might add.
Just take a few table spoons of real lime juice (or bottled like juice if preferred) as well as a bit of lime shavings and toss into your icing (and batter as well if desired). Make sure to start with small increments and taste. You don't want it to be too sour.

Here's what they will look like.

Tiffany blue SWEET 16

So back in December we had a SWEET 16th birthday party for my niece.
Now last year I made the sassy shades cake for this very same niece but this year was all about the Tiffany Blue. The fondant was easy but getting the icing colour for the cupcakes took some work. I believe I ended up using Wilton teal and a touch of sky blue to get the colour below.

Here is a few compilations of the treats I made for the party.

It was a good party and everyone loved the cake. The cupcakes were just to pretty to eat...but we did!
