Diaper Party Gender Neutral Cupcakes

Well the title explains it all!

These were indeed made for a Diaper Party (this is the men equivalent to a woman's baby shower, just an fyi for anyone wondering what I am speaking about).

As the sex of the baby is going to be a surprise - a gender neutral colour was needed.
Yellow is definitely my favourite colour - a soft baby pastel colour was used here.

To achieve this yellow, I made 2 batches of buttercreme icing and added 4 drops of "Sunshine Yellow" by Artisan Accents.

Packed and Ready to be Shipped out. All I have to do is close the box and tie.

It was a cute arial view.

Owl Cake

My friend Rosie is in love with Owls. Her birthday was in May and she originally seen a two-tier Owl cake with Cherry Blossoms. I was asked to re-create it using a one tier and this was the result.

I made the cake more of a tree stump for the Owl with a few cherry blossom branches sticking out.

She absolutely loved her cake and I am happy that she did.

The side here is to allow for the stump and roots effect. If you look closely, you can see the lines engrained into the fondant as though it was actual bark.

Retirement Cake

One of the Legal Assistants at my job was retiring this past April. I was asked to make her a cake which she absolutely loved. I'm happy you enjoyed it and I wish you the best!

This is the first cake I baked since my Accident back in March and it was fun to do.
This colour purple was achieved using "Deep Purple" from Artisan Accents. I bought this at Icing Inspirations in Kitchener, Ontario, however this can be bought directly from any baking website including Artisan Accents and Icing Inspirations.

I wish I had this line of Artisan Accents colours 2 months ago, but I have them not and I am thoroughly enjoying them. They keep their colour and you only need a drop or two to get a deep colour such as this purple. If you bake a lot and spend time using more and more colour to get a darker shade, than this system is for you!

Beautiful & Effortless colour.

Regal Purple Cupcakes

This little girl asked her mom for "Gangsta Purple Cupcakes with Gold". She's 4. What does she know about gangsta purple? LOL

My inspiration came from "A pimp named slick back's suit" #Boondocks

I think I did a good job matching the colour as it is very hard to get a deep purple without using the whole entire jar AND without making the icing taste bitter. No one wants that!

Product Used: Americolor Regal Purple , Gold Liners, and Gold Pearls

Another Pink Rosette Cake, this time with PEARLS!

Pink Rosette Cake
with Customer Pearl Topper
This cake has been very popular over the last couple of months.
Most people see it, want it, and sometimes ask for an upgrade.
This time around, I made the rosettes larger and made a customer cake topper, which I will explain below how to make.

For the Pearl Topper
You will need the following supplies:
(A LIST OF LINKS are included at the end.)

-An item to cover in Pearls
(This was for a lady's 91st Birthday and her first name began with an F.)
-Jewel It Embellishing Glue
-Pearls
(this one is up to you, you can use whatever you like and you can use fully rounded or half flat)
-Tweezers (optional)

I bought a white letter purposely because I did not want to have to paint it. The process only took about 20-25 minutes while I was on lunch at work and the glue hardened within the house.
TIP: Running low on time, stick it in the fridge. (I had to do this when I had to replace one minutes prior to putting on the cake)

Step 1: Clean your letter and place on a flat surface.
Step 2: Grab your pearls and apply a bit of Jewel It to the side. (Tweezers come in Handy for the small ones, I was at work and had to improvise and use a thumb tack)
Step 3: Apply to letter
Step 4: Let Dry.
Step 5: If placing on a cake, I cut out a piece of a thin cake board and stuck it to the bottom with White Merkens Chocolate. I then adhered the cake board with the same chocolate to the cake for it to stand up perfectly. I then covered over with the icing rosettes.

(The closest link I could find for the Pearls is still by the same brand, except the case I bought was 7.6 oz with various sizes and no pink.)
